Software Engineering

The Software Engineering section studies how software is conceived, built, understood, evaluated, evolved, taught, and learned. Our research addresses the technical, human, collaborative, and organizational dimensions of software and computing, with a strong emphasis on empirical research and on developing methods and tools that improve practice.

Kontaktdetaljer

Forskning

Our research addresses three interconnected areas: software as a product (software analysis, design and architecture, requirements engineering, software quality and testing, repository mining, and parallel and probabilistic programming); software engineering processes and practices (use-centered software engineering, knowledge management and collaboration, and the use of AI in software engineering), across domains such as public-sector IT and robotics; and research on education investigating how software engineering and computer science are taught and learned.

The section brings together the Center for Computer Science Education (CCER), the Software Quality Research (SQUARE) group, and the Software Engineering group.

Undervisning og kurser

We contribute broadly to ITU's technical education, from introductory and advanced programming to software architecture, parallel and probabilistic programming, software engineering, and software quality. We supervise BSc projects and MSc theses across our research areas.
